Join us for an exciting and educational Salamander Survey at Lincoln Brick Park! This hands-on event is perfect for late elementary and early middle school students who are curious about nature and wildlife. Participants will learn about local salamander species, their habitats, and the vital role they play in our ecosystem. With the help of expert guides and local naturalists, we'll explore the area to search for salamanders and other amphibians, while gaining a deeper understanding of their behaviors, needs, and conservation efforts. This is a great opportunity to get outdoors, explore, and have fun while learning more about the fascinating world of amphibians!

All ages.Nearly 100 different objects of art, created by student artists of all ages from Grand Ledge Public Schools, will be on display throughout the library. Enjoy refreshments while you view all the fantastic creations. Artists’ works remain on display thru April 30.

Ages 12+Learn adult and pediatric CPR, automated external defibrillator (AED), emergency procedures like rescue breathing, and the Heimlich maneuver, and first aid. Upon workshop completion, students receive a course completion card in Adult and Pediatric CPR with AED and first aid. Class is blended learning online part is sent after registration for class. Registration required, class size limited. This class is not appropriate for those needing training for a healthcare field (doctors, dentists, nurses, EMS, etc.).

Ages 0 - 5Have some spring fun at our Glow-in-the-Dark Egg hunt. Bring the kids anytime between 6 pm and 8 pm to participate. Venture into the darkened Children's Department to find three eggs per child, then trade the eggs in for a small treat.

Repaint and recycle old bookends in wild colors to make a unique new creation! We’ll have the acrylic paints and other creative materials on hand for you to make a one-of-a-kind creation that’s yours to keep! One bookend per registered participant, wear old clothes. During our Earth Week Open House kids can learn some fun hands-on STEAM Earth Science! Kids see how water moves through our ecosystem using the hands-on "EnviroScape" water display from the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services, get "hands on" with worms-- nature's recyclers-- at the Vermicomposting display from Eaton County Resource Recovery, and learn about local wildlife and ecosystems from Eaton County Parks Deputy Director and Naturalist Ethan Jacobs. Kids can make some fun "earth friendly" crafts too! Free seed giveaways (while supplies last) and information on other green initiatives in our community. Kids who registered for a Free Tree seedling from our partner Neighborhood Forest will be notified when the trees are ready for pickup too!4/24/2025
Come get creative with LEGO bricks at the library’s LEGO-Palooza! Each child will get a tray of LEGO bricks and the challenge is to build their most fantastic creation from just those bricks. How imaginative can you be? Some Duplo bricks will be available for younger children to use.4/26/2025
Ages 12 - 17Learn emergency procedures, discipline techniques, diapering, age-appropriate activities, rescue breathing, the Heimlich maneuver, and basic first aid skills needed while babysitting. Upon workshop completion, students receive an American Red Cross babysitting course certificate. Class size limited. Participants bring a sack lunch, water bottle.
