Everyone has big feelings sometimes. Children who learn to manage those feelings at an early age have a big advantage in life. It’s an important skill for growing minds! Community Mental Health Authority of Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham Counties offers groups for children of all ages learn skills to manage life stress, improve social skills, and have fun doing it! New participants are always welcome – come join us! No registration necessary

  • Tues., 10 am: Ages 3-6 & caregivers:  Easy activities children can do to help feel better when they are facing big feelings. Learn about movement and breathing, using artwork to express feelings, and how laughter helps us feel better.

We’re getting ready for the upcoming Solar Eclipse! Learn some science about the sun as we create "eclipse crafts", try different eclipse viewing activities, and learn more about the total solar eclipse coming on April 8th. Pick up a pair of FREE Eclipse glasses for safe eclipse viewing too! Kids take home a science book too—while supplies last. Ages 3+

Learn adult and pediatric CPR, automated external defibrillator (AED), emergency procedures like rescue breathing, and the Heimlich maneuver, and first aid. Upon workshop completion, students receive a course completion card in Adult and Pediatric CPR with AED and first aid. Class is blended learning online part is sent after registration for class. Registration required, class size limited. This class is not appropriate for those needing training for a healthcare field (doctors, dentists, nurses, EMS, etc.). Singers on the Grand presents "Vintage Vinyl: The Hits We Spun 1950s-1980s” at the Grand Ledge Opera House (121 S. Bridge St., Grand Ledge) on in two dessert shows Saturday April 13 and Sunday April 14. The 11 singers and 8 band members will take you on a musical journey through your favorite songs of the vinyl record period.

Enjoy iconic music from The Beatles, Carly Simon, Elvis, Peggy Lee, Jimmy Buffett, Chicago, The Eagles, and many other favorite performers. These 25th anniversary shows includes full ensemble performances, solos, duets, and small group numbers. SATURDAY evening: dessert served at 6:00 pm, showtime at 6:30 pm. SUNDAY afternoon: dessert served at 2:30 pm with a 3:00 pm show. Saturday night only: bring your own wine or beer to enjoy during the show.

During our Open House kids can learn from WORMS, nature's recyclers at a "Worm Farm" presented by Eaton County Resource Recovery, see how water moves through our ecosystem using the hands-on EnviroScape water display from the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services, and learn fascinating facts "hands-on" about local wildlife from Eaton County Parks. Kids can make some fun "earth friendly" crafts too! Stop by the library for free seed giveaways and information on other green initiatives in our community! While supplies last. Kids who registered for a Free Tree seedling from our partner Neighborhood Forest will be notified when the trees are ready for pickup.

Grand Ledge area resident Ted Graham hiked the 2,183-mile Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine in 2016.  The 5 ½ month adventure provided many challenges, struggles, and highlights.  Come join us to hear this hiker, trail name “Lucky Dog” recount some of those stories.
