Library Land

“Library Land” Game—A Journey through our Children’s Library, for children ages 0-K and 1-6th grade. Sing silly songs, find books, tell a story-- Can you do them all?  Earn an Instant Prizes for playing each time you visit GLADL, and books as prizes for completing the game! One game card per person please. Turn in all Game cards by March 31, 2022.

Treasure Hunt

Aye matey, arrrrgh—it’s time to go on a Treasure Hunt through the library during March is Reading Month! Follow the clues to secret locations in the library—Play, read, hunt and win! Hunt for 7th graders and up!

Adults can you "Guess this Book"? We've removed some pages from a damaged book-- and mixed them up in a guessing jar. Guess the title and the author from just what you can see! Drawing March 31, winner notified asap.

Storybook Stroll Eaton County Parks

This StoryBook Stroll hits the trails at Fitzgerald Park! Featuring the children’s book “Have You Seen the Nesting Bird?”, the story winds along a beautiful outdoor trail starting in March.

Kick off March is Reading Month! Celebrate the joy of books by meeting the Cat in the Hat. Come take a photo with the Cat in the Hat. Listen to Green Eggs and Ham and try green eggs and ham for yourself!

Beginning Ukulele for the Family --Ages 8 to 88

This is a fun way to share the aloha spirit of the ukulele together as an ohana (family in Hawaiian). Taught by Michigan’s Ukulele Ambassador, Ben Hassenger, and sponsored by the Music is the Foundation non-profit; you will learn a brief history of the instrument and all the basics you need to get started playing right away, including:

• How to hold the ukulele

• Tuning the ukulele

• One-, two-, and three- finger chords

• Transitions between chords

• Strumming patterns

• Easy, fun songs

Loaner ukuleles will be provided as well as a three-ring binder for you to keep your lesson materials and song sheets organized.  Looking forward to playing and singing with you soon, aloha!

Registration required to ensure enough ukuleles and materials.

We’ll celebrate March is Reading Month and St. Patrick’s Day with stories and a visit from the Cat in the Hat and special costumed characters. Come watch the parade and then meet the Cat at the library afterwards! Storytime features the Cat in the Hat and his favorite stories!

Want to come be in the parade with the Library? 

We are looking for volunteers to smile, wave, and hand out treats as they walk or ride with the library's parade entry. Volunteers and our costumed Storybook Characters will bring smiles to children all along the parade route!  Email questions@gladl.org for more details.

Teens 12+ learn emergency procedures, diapering, pediatric CPR, rescue breathing, Heimlich maneuver, and basic first aid skills. Masks and social distancing required. Bring a water bottle, sack lunch, doll or teddy bear to the workshop. Registration required, class fee of $30 required, payable to C.P.R.C. Inc.

If you would like to submit a local community event to be included in our calendar, please submit your event online.  

Submissions will ONLY be approved for those local community events that will take place within the Grand Ledge Public School (GLPS) District or that are sponsored by a local business or organization that is housed with the GLPS District.
