For a number of years the Capital Area Radio Drone Squadron (CARDS) has hosted the opening event for this dedicated group of Remote Control (RC) enthusiasts. Mike Pollock current VP of CARDS notes “What a marvelous spectator event to come and watch if you live in the greater Lansing MI area. This air show surpasses most Full Scale Airplane Shows you might attend. You will be amazed at all the scale models.” Come watch these spectacularly crafted airplanes June 6-8, 2019 from 9AM – 5PM at CARDS field located at 8328 Otto Road, Grand Ledge MI. Not only is it some great fun but you might learn a little of aviation history. Typically prime times are from 10AM to 2 PM. Flights are somewhat dependent on weather and wind conditions. Note that airplanes will fly all day so depending on weather. Plan your visit to the field accordingly to see the most action. All spectators enter free with a $5 parking donation suggested. A concession stand will serve food, soda and water.
In the year 2020 CARDS will honor the RC hobby celebrating its 50th anniversary as a club of enthusiast dedicated to this hobby. Besides hosting some great RC Air Shows, CASRDS also offers a Community Model Aviation Day on June 22, 2019 that allows visitors to experience flying a real RC airplane after some introduction on a Computer RC simulator. The use of an RC Buddy Box assisted by an experienced trainer makes this fun and easy.
